Rebuilding the Rockaways one house at a time – Pace Alternative Spring Break 2016

This is the first post in a series of posts from the 16 Pace students rebuilding homes in Rockaway, Queens for Pace’s Alternative Spring Break 2016 program.  The Rockaways, as it is more commonly known, is still recovering from the destruction wrought by Superstorm Sandy back in 2012.  Day 1 for our team was a day to meet people in the Rockaways and to get to know each other.  Follow the team via this blog or by social media by using the hashtag #PaceASB16.

The first day of our trip seemed relaxed. I thought lunch at the Cross Bay Diner was lovely. The food was great and they gave you a lot for your dollar. I really enjoyed the art show. It’s great to see local artists and what they can do. You got a glimpse of what the town was like by looking at the local art work. That had to be my favorite part. It was really special to be able to see this art work. It was also great to finally meet everyone and get to know them.
