5 Ways to Get Involved with CCARNY

Welcome (back) to Pace! We hope you are all ready to jump into a new semester, even if it’s still pretty chilly outside. If you’re still thinking about your 2014 resolutions, we suggest resolving to get involved this semester. Whether your passion is for volunteering, advocacy and activism, discussing recent events, or learning and educating others about important social and environmental issues, there’s a way for you to get involved and make a difference with the CCAR. Here’s how!

1. Get to know us

The Center for Community Action and Research (CCAR) at Dyson College of Arts and Sciences works to implement Pace’s mandate to provide students with a holistic education that embodies the liberal arts tradition of educating for citizenship and social responsibility. Some of the opportunities that can be found through our office include: the Periclean Fellowship Program, the Jefferson Awards, job opportunities, Alternative Spring Break, local volunteer and advocacy opportunities, grants, and teaching assistantships. Learn more about us on our website here, and look through our blog archives here.

2. Stay updated

The CCAR’s bi-weekly eDigest is the best way to make sure you find out about all of the events and opportunities offered by our office as soon as they’re planned. We send information about registration for our upcoming volunteer events, discussions, and advocacy opportunities, as well as volunteer, internship, work-study, and scholarship opportunities through our office and non-profit organizations throughout NYC.

3. Follow us

Follow us on our social media for monthly education campaigns on important social end environmental issues, as well as articles, event reminders, and regular posts on the latest from our office and NYC non-profit partners.

4. Come to an event

Check out our calendar of upcoming events to see what we have coming up, from service opportunities to chances to make your voice heard on issues like ending human trafficking and racial inequality. To sign up for an event, email us at ccarny@pace.edu. You will hear back within 2-3 days with more details about the event – don’t forget to RSVP, as many events are limited and do fill up!

5. Find (or plan) the perfect opportunity for YOU

Looking for a volunteer opportunity we haven’t planned, an ongoing project that fits your availability and interest, or have an idea for an event of your own? Send us an email or stop by our office in Y31 of 1 Pace Plaza to find out more about how the CCAR staff can help you find what you are looking for!
