Intern at StudentsforService

StudentsforService creates hands-on service and service learning programs for New York City’s teens, in partnership with local non-profits and service organizations.  Their mission is to link young people with communities in need and build lifelong commitment to civic engagement in our next generation of leaders.

StudentsforService is a rapidly growing, new non-profit.  They seek motivated, organized part-time volunteer interns to help develop and administer the following programs.  They offer a unique opportunity to participate in the growth and development of a non-profit from the ground up and gain the hands on experience that helps to build a quality resume:

  • Social Media manager: Expand, improve and manage their social media presence, including upgrading and managing the website, creating facebook pages and groups, creating and maintaining a blog site, evaluating analytics, etc. Familiarity and facility with technology is essential. The position will commence in the summer and will continue through the academic year. Job is part-time; hours required will be determined by intern’s skill level and anticipated time needed to complete projects. Hours are flexible and work can be done from volunteer’s home.
  • Volunteer Mentor Manager: Coordinate and manage their volunteer mentor program, which recruits college and graduate students to mentor high school volunteers at service events and directs their Student Leadership Team. Candidate must be over 18. This position is part-time commencing in summer and continuing through academic year. Some Saturdays and holidays are required.
  • Volunteer Mentors: Supervise and mentor  high school volunteers at service days on Saturdays and school holidays throughout the 2012/2013 academic year. Mentors will choose a service initiative (Environment, Hunger, Literacy, etc.), commit to working a series of days throughout the year, and build a leadership team of high school students related to that initiative. Mentors will also work closely with our non-profit partners to plan and develop service days and network with non-profits.

Interns may have the opportunity to transition to paid employees as funds are raised.
