With an office located at the Graduate Center of the City University of New York, Left Forum is the largest annual progressive conference in the country. Each spring thousands of conference participants come together to discuss pressing local, national and global issues; to better understand commonalities and differences, and alternatives to current predicaments; or to share ideas to help build social movements to transform the world.
Whether your interest is in engaging exciting speakers and innovators in their fields (past featured speakers include: Noam Chomsky, Arundhati Roy, Frances Fox Piven, Michael Moore, Cornel West, Slavoj Zizek, and Grace Lee Boggs) or helping out with event planning, media organizing, editorial work and graphic design, website and database administration, fundraising, or program development and outreach — conference volunteer and internship opportunities offer empowering, applied work, scholarly, and life learning experience.
About Volunteering or Interning
Internships are unpaid although academic credit is available. Hours are flexible—we ask for 15-20 hours a week—and can be adapted to fit your schedule. Internships begin immediately.
Volunteer positions: While any amount of volunteer time will help, we encourage 10 or more hours per week, and three to six month commitment. A modicum of computer skills is desired.
If you are interested in an internship or as a volunteer would like to get an idea about more concrete areas of help, please call us at the number below or look at the internship descriptions on our website at: http://www.leftforum.org/internships People with diverse backgrounds and experience are encouraged to apply.
